Why choose a B&B for your Bar Harbor vacation?

Traveler's have a tough choice when it comes to where to stay for their vacation to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There are hotels, motels, cottages, campgrounds, home rentals, bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels, glamping, yurts and more. What are the advantages to staying at a bed and breakfast?

Warm welcome - all of our unique B&B's are owner operated. Not only are we innkeepers, but we are also local experts. Have hiking questions? Need directions? Help with dinner reservations? Innkeepers love to spend their time sharing their knowledge and love of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park with their guests. We love to give you the inside scoop on the best places to catch the sunset and who has the best ice cream!

Gourmet breakfasts - Innkeepers love to entertain their guests with creative, hardy home-cooked breakfasts. Many of our inns feature fresh local ingredients such as wild Maine blueberries, fiddle heads, Maine maple syrup and of course, lobster! Just look at that plate of mouth watering french toast at the Atlantean Cottage B&B. Most inns are also happy to accommodate special dietary needs such as gluten or dairy free, vegetarian or other restriction.

Incredible amenties - Unlike big hotels, most bed and breakfast provide complimentary amenities to their guests such as refillable water bottles, delicious afternoon refreshments and treats, locally brewed coffee and tea, Wi-Fi, and off street parking. Stay at a resort hotel and these often come with a added charge.

Sustainability - most inns on this island strive to protect our natural resources by being environmentally friendly. Many have taken the Sustainable MDI pledge to eliminate single use plastics; providing water refill stations and/or offering reusable water bottles; recycling all plastic, glass, and cardboard; and using the least toxic products that meet regulations for cleaning, laundry, landscaping, renovations, bath amenities, etc. and use washable cleaning cloths. Ask your innkeeper if they have taken the pledge!

Keeping it local - many of our inns partner with other local small business such as Crooked Porch Coffee Roasters; Fiore Olive Oils; Ben and Bill's Chocolate Emporium; Window Panes (chocolate covered blueberries) and the Bar Harbor Tea Company.

From Victorian to modern, jacuzzi tub to jetted walk in shower, our 26 members have a wide variety of options to suit any traveler's needs. Visit our website to search by amenity to find the inn that is the perfect fit for you!
